Here are some Japanese Terms that will used within the Dojo

Rei - Bow

Seiza - Kneel

Kamiza - Dojo, Shrine or Flag

Sensei - Teacher

Renshei - Instructor of a Sensei

Shihan- Master (6th Dan grade)

Sempai - Most Senior Student

Dojo - Training Hall

Tatami - Mat Area

Zori - Mat Slippers

Kamiza Ni Rei - Command given by the Sempai for class to bow to Dojo, Shrine or Flag

Sensei Ni Rei - Command given by Semapi for class to bow to Sensei

Novices and Yudansha (Dan Grades) should always make a proper standing rei (bow) upon entering or leaving the Dojo. This rei is termed ritsu-rei and it shows the proper respect for the martial spirit and moral learning pursued in the Dojo.
